Kosteas Thanos

Biography

Thanos Kosteas, 16 years old, is a member of the 1^st Child & Youth Advisory Board of UNICEF Greece Country Office. An active U-Reporter and climate activist with a special interest in climate change and disaster risk reduction (DRR), he is a firm believer that education and collaboration of all relevant actors are imperative to minimize the negative consequences of natural disasters, that especially affect people from vulnerable backgrounds. As a youth delegate nominated by the UNICEF Greece Country Office, Thanos presented the #RoadtoResilience Call to Action for Europe and Central Asia’s (ECA) Children and Youth at the Inter-ministerial Roundtable of the ECA Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction held in Montenegro, in November 2024. In 2024, Thanos also served as a member of the Greek Youth Parliament and was elected president of his school council.
